Italeri F-16D Fighting Falcon – Part 2

Fuselage Bottom And Tail Section

19 engine access panels builded at bottom fuselage.Only 4 of them at bottom fuselage and tail section are resin detail set from “HADMODELS 148003 Exterior set for Hasegawa kits” used in Italeri F-16.

All access panels planning to be detailed are engraved. Two of them detailed with some proper size of metal coffee filter

Bottom of the fuselage,2 open panels behind the landing gear on the left of jet are the “Jet Fuel Starter”. Front panel with filter is for air delivery and rear one is for exhaust during engine start. They are going to have half closed cover before finishing model.

Hyraulic filling and servicing doors. One for hydraulic A,left side and the other is for hydraulic B right side of the bottom fuselage under front wing root. Totally builded from plastic, detailed with spare gauges decals

Coming next two scratch builds. Small one is for Ground Air Cooling Plug, big one is for Fuel Servicing panel.

Close up look for fuel servicing panel after install.

And Ground Cooling plug.

Picture above also shows complete Hydraulic access and servicing panel after assembly.Panel between these panels base look for gun compartment gas delivery bay. It will be almost closed panel thats why detail is builded less.

Coming photo is showing some parts of “HADMODELS 148003 Exterior set for Hasegawa kits” resin detail set after painting.

And looks after attached the “HADMODELS” resin parts in the fuselage. After the resin  assebly i added some hydraulic lines over the resins.

Remaining 4 engine access and maintanence panels are totally scratch builded with various plastic and cables.

Final photos of F-16D Fighting Falcon – Part 2 are from tail sections. The detail shows the Fight Control Acumulators area for the rudder sections.

The detail is a part of “HADMODELS 148003 Exterior set for Hasegawa kits” resin again which is perfect detail for this area.

End of this section.

Italeri F-16D Fighting Falcon – Part 1

New beginning with Italeri 1/48 scale F-16D Fighting Falcon.

Extra detail set :

  • Aires resin cockpit set
  • Aires resin Wheel bays
  • Aires resin Exhaust Nozzle
  • CMK resin armament set
  • HAD Models resin exterior set

Plan is to make some maintanence and access panels scratch build as much as possible.

Planning open panels marked with red.

As first step resin wheel bays painted, weathered and detailed. Most diffcult resin wheel bay in my opinion because of very thin cable detail. Almost impossible to paint.

Here the results:

Nose wheel bay:

First open panel works:

8 panel at dorsal section of tail drilled first and inner area created with several plastic parts. Grey parts are kits parts and white parts evergreen plastic cutted proper shape for base inner detail.

Scratch builded parts so far are painted and weathered.

Various evergreen plastic rods added inside of spine holes.

Some of them painted in its place some of them outside.

Various metal wires added according to reference photos.

After last two pneumatic tube assembly where upper side of all other cables, first part of scratch build open panel job is completed with more than 80 extra parts.

Open panel lips are also created with evergreen parts.

Results after all scratch build work:

Next steps coming soon…

Hobbyworld Quickplinths

Thanks to for the perfect airfield bases.

The bases are printed in high resolution with the latest printing techniques for rigid material in various sizes and scales.

Available at:

You can use them directly to expose your models or permanent basis for making a scene.

They are divided by theme and reproduced in the most common scales.

Here some examples:

1/48 scale   “Desert Airfield Bigsize 01” ground base with my 1/48 scale F-14 Tomcat.

Look at the closeup view that gives perfect realistic ground effect.

1/48 scale “German Tarmac WW2 Bigsize 02” ground base with my 1/48 scale F-4E Phantom.

Closeup view is same clean and realistic.

1/72 scale “Aircraft Carrier Deck Bigsize 01” aircraft carrier base with my 1/72 scale F-8E Crusader.

Bases gives same quality realistic closeup picture.

Last photos are to show up the size of the bases. They are really big that enough for three 1/48 scale aircraft in a 1/48 scale Quicksand plinths.

Hasegawa F-14A Assembly And Kit Detail

Hasegawa F-14A Tomcat, 1/48 scale, Iranian Air Force color with some extras.

Box number 07246 Pt46.

Total 294 parts, 6 of them photoetch for canopy and ladder, 6 of them metal part for wheel, and extra rubber tire.

All parts are engraved and nice detailed.

Although i used resin detail set, the detail of orijinal cockpit and wheel bays caught my attention.

Canopy detail with metal parts is really nice. No addition is need for that area. But clear part has seamlines along the canopy as standart hasegawa canopy.

Extra two pilot. Each has two head option. Option is Helmet sunvisor open or closed.

With little care air intake can be built seamless.

No chance to assembly sweep variable wing. You should choose sweep forward or sweep back assembly.

If you choose sweep forward wing than you can build the flaps extended. The detail is nice as you see.

Three option for IR Seeker equipment.

Detail of landing gear struts are nice also i added some cable for hydraulic lines detail.

Air brakes can be build deployed but detail is weak in my opinion. Detail of exhaust nozzle also insufficient detailed.

No weapons only pylons, two auxiliary fuel tank and TARPS pod. All loadings are extras.

AIM-9J and AIM-7E are from Eduard Brassin.

AIM-54 Phoenix are from Hasegawa Aircraft Weapons:B

Iranian F-14s has refueling probe with open panel and no detail for that coming from kit. Some scratch building is need for that.

Kit is completed with some extras below:

Short review of some of them:

And after painting of resin cockpit. Note: Aires instrument panels are colorless. You have to paint photoetch instrument panel.

Aires F-14 Tomcat Wheel Bay and after painting.

Canopy seamline is deleted and polished. Front clear part is detailed with clear green color and added some black plastic tape from inside instead of painting.

Front part is glued its place with CA glue and polished again.

Wheelliant F-14A Tomcat Weighted Wheels 148 001 used for tire.

Master Model F-14 Alfa Probe and Angle of Attack Probe AM-48 007 used for pitot.

Aires F-14A Tomcat Exhaust Nozzles- Open 4708 is used for exhaust.

Hi-Decal Line 48-021 is used for Iranian decal. They are really nice and thin.
